Q: “Why are grey/black markings appearing on my Portmeirion dinnerware? How can I remove them?
The glaze used on the Sophie Conran for Portmeirion range is extremely hard, harder in fact than many of the lower-grade metals that are used to manufacture cutlery, which can be quite soft (particularly stainless steel). In use, the hard glaze can abrade the cutlery leaving a deposit of metal on the surface that can look like a pencil mark. To remove the marks, Portmeirion advise using a product called ‘Bar Keepers Friend’ which can be purchased via the internet or in national stores. You could also try our Sophie Conran for Arthur Price cutlery sets, which are made of very high-grade steel that will not mark the glaze.
Q: “Is it possible to buy a replacement lid for my Sophie Conran for Portmeirion product?”
Unfortunately at this time we are unable to offer replacement lids alone for our Sophie Conran for Portmeirion products as the pieces are only made as a full set. You may wish to contact Portmeirion's customer services for further information or support on 01782 743427
Q: “Where are your Sophie Conran for Portmeirion products manufactured?”
While the design, product development, packaging, marketing and sales teams are all based in the UK, we are proud to work with outstanding manufacturers around the world. The porcelain is made in China and is of the highest quality, not available anywhere else, and the glass is all hand-blown in Turkey. We endeavour to work with teams who can produce to our exacting standards, along with our partners Portmeirion Group PLC; "Our designers, testing lab and quality inspectors are based here in the UK to ensure all of our products meet our industry-leading quality standards."
Q: “Do you ship to countries outside of the UK?”
Due to the UK leaving the EU and due to the fragile nature of the majority of our products we have taken the decision to no longer offer international deliveries outside of the British Isles. We are however very happy to deliver to a UK based shipping company of your choice. You will need to ensure that your order is thoroughly checked at the point of delivery as we will be unable to accept responsibility for any damaged products past this point. Unfortunately we are unable to reccommend any specific shipping companies. Should you then wish to return an item our standard returns policy will apply. Should there be an item you wish to exchange - again we will only be able to deliver to a UK based shipping company

Q: “Products keep disappearing from my basket / When I get to the basket my products are not there?”
This is a browser caching and cookie issue. This can easily be fixed by clearing your browser cache. Firstly take note of the web browser you are using on desktop or mobile device then follow the steps below:
Apple Desktop - Chrome
1. Press the Chrome button in the top left corner and select Clear Browsing Data...
2. From the drop-down menu select Obliterate the following items from: the beginning of time
3. From the selection of checkboxes ensure that the option Cookies and other site and plugin data has been selected then press Clear browsing data
Apple Desktop - Safari 9
1. Press the Safari button in the top left corner and select Clear History...
2. From the drop-down menu select all history then press Clear History
Apple Desktop - Mozilla Firefox
1. Press the Firefox button in the top left corner
2. From the left hand column select Privacy
3. Now from the History section press remove individual cookies and then scroll down and select sophieconran.com
4. Now press the Remove All button
Windows Desktop - Internet Explorer
1. Select Tools (via the Gear Icon) then Safety and Delete browsing history...
2. Deselect Preserve Favourites website data ,and select Temporary Internet files or Temporary Internet files and website files
3. Select Cookies or Cookies and website data then press History
4. Press History then click Delete. You will see a confirmation at the bottom of the window when the process is complete
iPhone / iPad - Safari
1. Select the Settings app
2. Scroll down and select Safari
3. Select Clear History and Website Data and confirm the action
iPhone / iPad - Chrome
1. Press the three dots symbol in the top left corner and then press Settings
2. Select Privacy then Clear Browsing Data
3. Ensure Cookies, Site Data has been selected then confirm this action by pressing Clear Browsing Data

Q: “Can the legs of the sofa be longer?”
Yes absolutely we can do anything bespoke. The only consideration to think about is the height of your sofa and what the experience is like of getting into / out of it.
Q: “Do you do sofa-beds?”
Yes we do! Please do get in touch with us at sofas@sophieconran.com or via the contact form on our website.
Q: “Do you do any corner units?”
Yes we do, we can make pieces in lots of different sizes and shapes. Please let me know what size you are considering and we can pull together an indicative price for this.
Q: “Do you do any beds?”
Not yet but we do offer headboards in a variety of shapes and sizes. We will be bringing beds into the range soon
Q: “What are the dimensions of the pieces?”
Dimensions for each product are listed on their respective pages. If you cannot find sizing information for any product, please notify me so that I can have a team member address this promptly.
Q: “Do your sofas come with Slip Covers?”
Yes, all our covers are removable and washable. Our plain and striped covers are machine washable at home, which is ideal for households with pets and children. However, our floral and cotton velvet covers are dry clean only. Please note that our covers are specifically designed to fit our collection and are not compatible with other designs. Q: “Do you do an L-shaped sofa?”
Yes we do, we can make pieces in lots of different sizes and shapes. Please let me know what size you are considering and we can pull together an indicative price for this.
Q: “Can you create cutom length sofas?”

Q: “I would like to get a custom sofa in L shape and wanted to get it delivered in India”
Yes we can do this, we can make pieces in lots of different sizes and shapes. Please let me know what size you are considering and we can pull together an indicative price for this. Please also share your contact number when you get a moment.
Q: “How many meters would I require roughly for the 3 person knife edge sofa?"
It depends on the fabric that you are thinking of - prints require more fabric that plains. If you download this document this contains all of our sizes and our fabric requirements by size.
Q: "Would it be possible to send some fabric samples?"
Yes, we would love to send you samples. You can view our swatches online directly on this page, alternatively please share the colour tones you are interested in and I will put a provisional section together for you in the post.
Q: "Do you make the coco footstool in a variety of sizes?"
Certainly! We specialize in bespoke options and can customize the footstool size to fit your specific needs and space requirements. Many of our customers personalize the sizing based on how they intend to use the footstool, whether it's as a coffee table, footrest, or even a pet bed. Q: "Is there an additional cost to use our own fabric?"
No, we do not have fabric available for direct purchase. However, we offer a Customer Own Material option where you can provide the fabric of your choice, and we will provide you with a price accordingly.
Q: "Could you please send me a brochure about your sofas?"

Q: "How long do the sofas take to make?"
We have a variety of lovely pieces currently available for immediate delivery, which you can view here. Our made-to-order items, however, may require 8-10 weeks for production, depending on fabric availability. Could you please specify the size and fabric you're interested in?
Shipping & Delivery
Q: "Do you deliver to Ireland?"
Yes we do. We deliver most of our products including our sofas all over the world. The only thing we do not deliver from the UK is portmerion due to the risk of breakages. We do ship our vintage list range to Ireland.
Q: "Can the furniture be carried through a flight of stairs?"
Yes absolutely. All we need to know is what the dimensions of the doorways and any narrow areas of the stairs. If you would like help with this, please send through any photographs and notes to sofas@sophieconran.com. Our bigger sofas come in sections which helps with access.
Q: "Do you deliver to New Zealand?"
Yes we do. We deliver most of our products including our sofas all over the world. The only thing we do not deliver from the UK is delicate items such as Ceramics and Glassware due to the risk of breakages. With regards to our sofa collection we are in the process of setting up an Australian based manufacturer who will be looking after all of our Australian and NZ sofa customers.
Q: "What is the lead time?"
We have several pieces in stock available for immediate delivery, with many more currently in production. Our made-to-order production time is approximately 10 weeks, provided the fabric is in stock. If you require a quicker turnaround, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Q: "Are the sofas available in the US?"
We now manufacture locally in the US with a partner in North Carolina, maintaining the same high standards of handcrafted, fully sprung bases, and sustainable materials as our UK products. If you're considering replacing your current piece, I'm here to assist with sizing, samples, and design advice, and I've included our updated catalogue and US price list for your reference.
Q: "Can you tell me how much shipping is on a Sofa to the US?"
The shipping method and cost vary depending on the items you wish to ship and your preferred delivery timeframe. We offer both sea freight, which is more economical but slower, and air freight, which is faster but more expensive. For an accurate quote, please provide details on the specific items, desired delivery timeline, and your complete address including Zip Code. Shipping prices typically range from £500 to £2500, depending on the order size and destination.
Q: "Can I purchase samples to ship to America?"
Certainly! You can explore all our digital swatches on our website and easily order them for direct delivery to your doorstep.
Q: "Where can I find rates for shipping to Belgium I'm interested in the Coco 3,5 seater!"

Q: "Do you have shops/showrooms in the US?"
We are now manufacturing our Coco Sofa collection in the US with the same specifications and are happy to assist with any design needs or inquiries, though we do not currently have a US showroom but can arrange video calls and provide a shipping quote if needed. We have a show home available in the UK and we would be happy to arrange a video call with you at your convenience to talk you through our collection using video chat. Unfortunately, we currently do not offer financing in the UK, but you can secure your order with a deposit and pay in installments before delivery. We're also working on integrating Klarna on our website—stay tuned and sign up for our mailing list for updates.

Our sofas are meticulously handcrafted using natural materials in a family-owned workshop located in Derbyshire. This workshop has a rich history, initially crafting sofas for Sophie's father, Sir Terence Conran, over 30 years ago. Sophie takes great pride in collaborating closely with this team, which not only honors her family's heritage but also supports skilled craftspeople based in the UK.
Q: "How do you clean the covers?"
All of our covers are removable and washable. Many of our covers are machine washable at home (like our plains and stripes) which are great for customers with pets and kids.
